LOOMIS — A fire in Loomis Friday afternoon quickly burned one mobile home, then spread to another, destroying both residences and a storage shed. No injuries were reported.

Units from the Loomis, Penryn and South Placer fire districts responded to the 4:30 p.m. call at Glenbrook Mobile Home Estates, 4800 Auburn-Folsom.

The homes, in spaces No. 96 and 97, were unoccupied, according to neighbor Jim Hansen.

Hansen, whose own home in space No. 93 backs up to the charred homes, said he felt "lucky" to have only lost his back fence.

Hansen said he had made a quick trip to the grocery store and returned to find the community in smoke, a fire hose through his driveway and his fence destroyed.

"I had two tanks for the barbecue right here," he said, pointing to the five-gallons tanks sitting just a short distance from the fire.

“It]'s scary when these things burn. If there's any wind we could all go up" in smoke, said the Hansen's neighbor, Sylvia Mosely.

Loomis Fire Protection District is investigating the cause of the fire.
