Pot shop request requires more study
Loomis council approves moratorium
Loomis Town Council members need more time to study the issues surrounding a request to open a Loomis pot shop.
According to Perry Beck, Loomis town manager, the five-member council voted unanimously, last night, Tuesday, July 21, to adopt a 45-day moratorium to “prohibit medical marijuana dispensaries.”
The agenda for the urgency meeting stated the town needed time to “review the legality, practical ramifications and possible secondary effects of such a land use.”
Beck said the item will be on the council’s August 11 meeting agenda as an ordinance to request an extension of 10 months and 15 days, the maximum extension allowable. The town will need to review the “legality, practical ramifications and possible secondary effects of such a land use.”
“We just can’t get it done in 45 days,” Beck said.

The heck with that, let them go to Sacramento to buy their weed. This sort of thing will just bring out the dergs of society. There's enough unemployed now, so I guess they can be unemployed and stoned.
They don't belong in Loomis, let them drive ot Roseville and get it when they shop at the galleria.
Some government agency needs to send undercover agents into these dens of dope and claim to have some ridiculous disorder that demands pot. For example, a bad back. The shops have doctors aligned with them who will write a scrip for dope in exchange for money.
Its all about the money. This is legalized dealership. The dope is ending up in our high schools.
A few good undercover stings of this nature would straighten things out. They should only be prescribing pot for nausea associated with chemotherapy.
gimme a break. this pot does not get into schools, grandmas pain meds and dads scotch get into schools. the dregs of society dont smoke pot, they smoke crank. stoners are just lazy. drug abuse is certainly a problem but lets focus on the real instigators like meth, oxycontin, heroin and crack. and not the herb. there should be oversight for these dispensaries certainly but why you all would support a liquor store over this i dont know. pot should just be legal and taxed period.
i had to go back through my page history to find this article. was it removed or misplaced? AJ wouldn't surprse if so.
