Del Oro High suffered a heartbreaking 1-0 loss at Roseville Thursday to end the season fourth in the Sierra Foothill League — one spot from earning a postseason berth.

Rocklin beat Nevada Union 3-0 to clinch the third and final playoff berth.

Roseville beat Del Oro after being awarded a penalty kick in the final moments Thursday.

Tennis

Juniors Brynn Bacharach and Haley Shaban handily won singles matches Thursday as Del Oro High’s girls tennis team ended its season with a 9-0 victory over host Roseville.

Baharach won 6-0, 6-1, while Shaban triumphed 6-0, 6-4.

The Golden Eagles improved to 8-4 in Sierra Foothill League play. Also winning singles matches were senior Kristin Lehmann (6-3, 6-2) and sophomores Ellen Watson (6-1, 6-2) and Leilani Dixon (6-1, 6-4). Freshman Sarah Silva, the only Eagle to go to three sets, won 6-2, 3-6, 10-7.

In doubles, Kimmy Hibbert and Marina Hansen won in straight 6-1 sets, while fellow juniors Emily Sizemore and Baylee Moranville were 6-3, 7-5 victors. Senior Alexis Rockefeller and sophomore Brie Simmons won in straight 6-3 sets.
