Placer flu vaccinations now expanded to anyone
Small turnout for first H1N1 clinic
Kim Nilsson of Lincoln thought Placer County’s first public H1N1 flu-shot clinic on Monday might be a madhouse, so she arrived two hours early. Turns out she was the only one there. At 11 a.m., as health officials prepared to open the doors, an orderly line of around 60 waited to receive the immunity boost for the so-called swine flu. “I got here early because I thought there would be hundreds,” said Bill Hollister of Newcastle. “I jumped at it.” The free clinic was just the first of several scheduled for this week, as supplies of the vaccine slowly increase. Another will take place Thursday at the Maidu Community Center, 1550 Maidu Drive, in Roseville. Though the clinics were originally targeted for high-risk groups, Dr. Mark Starr of Placer County Health said Tuesday that lower-than-expected turnout of those groups Monday means the remaining clinics will be open to anyone who wants vaccine. “Most important is to assure vaccine availability to those in target groups that otherwise haven’t been vaccinated,” he said. “But (it’s) also important for any resident that desires vaccine.” Officials are continuing to stage school clinics, which have already vaccinated 13,700 children, or 30 percent of the county’s K-12 population. Emily Williams of Rocklin came to Monday’s clinic for one reason: she’s seven months pregnant. “I’ve gone back and forth,” she said about hesitation on getting the shot. “I think it’s so new. But my doctor talked me into it. When you’re dealing with an unborn baby …” Weekly Placer County hospitalizations due to H1N1 are well below their peak in mid-November, according to the latest official statistics. A total of 43 people have been hospitalized. Four county residents have died since April. Jim Karoush, a medic, said he’s seen firsthand the flu’s severe complications. “It’s serious enough to where people in the medical field need to have this shot,” he said. Gabriela Eichenberger and her 9-year-old son, Jason, recently immigrated to Lincoln from Norway. “We just came here in July,” she said. “We don’t want to get sick.” Nilsson came to Monday’s clinic to vaccinate her 16-month-old son, Luke. “He has asthma, so he has to get it,” she said. Nilsson didn’t think twice about getting her son the shot after several of her friends’ children came down with suspected H1N1. “The majority just got very sick, but I do know a couple ended up in the hospital,” she said. “It just seems a little more serious than the regular flu.” Starr said the county received several thousand additional doses of the vaccine in recent days and more is coming in. The next round of clinics should come soon after Jan. 1, he said.

Chuuxr....8 billion dollars has now left the United State Treasury for this program... as the herds of people are continually being indoctrinated for the medical industry and this industries future plans. Have you recently Heard:) No breast examinations required...and today no more cat scans since they can, might, could cause cancer...and pretty soon there will be no eye exams or dental exams required as congress attempts to meet our new healthcare plan budget agendas. All I want to hear is the truth from someone in an authority position...anyone.....is that to much to ask for? We all might as well just have nose rings implanted at birth.....this will save a great deal of time in the future.
All I heard from Obewan was nonsensical conspiracy theory jabber. We might agree on some things, but I just dont know what you are talking about, so I cant agree. When the entire scientific community says that a vaccine against a particularly virulent strain of flu will help most people, I am going to side with them. Who is against the vaccine? Right wing talk radio hosts with less scientific knowledge than my 17 year old sister. I have never had a flu shot and wont be getting one this year, but some people really do need it (very young and very old). Its funny that as soon as Obama is president, people dont trust something that has been used for the past 30 years. Nobody was yelling about "big government" when the flu shots came out 5 years ago. Yes we have spent lots of money on this vaccine, but every year we spend lots of money on it. Only difference is, this years flu has the POTENTIAL to be one of the worst in recent memory. $8 billion is nothing compared to the costs if this flu were to get really out of hand. A similar flu in 1918 (The "Spanish Flu") killed more than 20 million people, so money should not be considered when looking at the potential consequences.
I appreciate the fact that you agree with some of the things I say....but have you actually investigated the 1918 spanish flu in depth? Have you researched this new flu strain in depth, where it came from...who had it originally etc. and what strain it is that we are dealing with? Since I believe that I personally had this H1N1..I agree it is a nasty flu...and some could pass away from it....then some could pass away from the common cold or flu and or complications from it..liike other bacterial infections etc.. So which is it...a fear forced vaccination program making someone a great deal of money or just a unnatural-typical flu strain that is not actually a real pandemic strain? If you really want to know the truth about how effective these vaccines have been...then you need to research what is out there....I have. The death rate has not gone down in the older generation getting these shots from these vaccinations...this fact speaks volumes on the benefits of these supposed vaccination programs you seem to be promoting. If I can not get a positive less death result..how can I then promote the effectiveness of my program?
Big business and certain industries use many techniques...to make profits.. and some actually use fear marketing while others can not be so fortunate in their marketing programs...always follow the money. When you feel you have taken the appropriate amount of time doing research on your own .please share you findings with me.as for this shot I will pass.
It appears that more and more people are seeing through the government generated hysteria. This began has a bunch of bureaucrats trying to justify their positions and boost their self-importance.
The more dependent we become to any entity that has the ability to take all our money through forced taxation... the more money will disappear from our wallets to pay for this perceived dependence....very simple really. Programs = Money= Taxation = More Programs=....
If they had had swine/avian flu vaccines during the "Spanish Flu" crises there wouldn't have been 20 million dead. Who said this isn't a pandemic?
OB there's little reason to fear the vaccines. I won't take a live virus but I will have the dead virus injection probably today.
....effective fear marketing has made many political donors and many companies a great deal of taxpayer paid profits.
Chuxxr...We do not have 20 million dead and we have not even surpassed then normal flu season death rates. 1918 was a whole different era...many of those people did not actually die from the 1918 virus...they died from other infections and complications from it ...like poor sanitation...poor disinfection and secondary lung infections during the war based on poor hygiene practices...and lack of medicines.
Chuuxr...you and I may have a great deal more in common than you could ever imagine. You did mention that you have a previous medical condition that should warrant extreme caution... on your recent decision to inject your self with anything concerning a virus dead or alive. The immune system is a wonderfully built system which has the power to rewrite communication codes on the fly.. for our survival. Always tread lightly when the possibility of any new viral infectious potentials might cause this rewriting function to occur. Hopefully you will rethink any decision you might be pondering. To better health for all........
yes Obewan, I think about the potential effects. I had to get the last of a series of shots for something else and decided to forgo the H1N1 shot for that reason. I've already had the regular flu shot. I'm on the list of people that go to the front of the line but I held off because the children and the elderly need it far more than me. My immune system seems to have rejuvenated itself, YEA!
PBS, just recently, had a great show on the Spanish Flu epidemic. Still may be able to find it by checking the showings.
Chuuxr..I am glad your immune system has regenerated. When a disease has surfaced it has already rewritten codes in the immune system program...sometimes these new programs only need a nudge to reactivate the rewriting process once again. The more rewriting.. the more chance for errors to occur and any potential disease to reactivate it self. I have never had a flu shot and I have avoided taking any type medication at all costs and it has worked out fine for me. The 1918 special I am sure is interesting and I think I already know what happened back then...but maybe I can find it in zyberspace. We have all been prepared by the medical industry via the controlled government media...to be prepared for a pandemic flu now... for about the last ten years. Fear once again means profits for those who are allowed to peddle it on and into the unknowing public. I am not knocking some of the strides made by the medical community...some have been great.. yet awfully slow based on the knowledge base funnel they have at their disposal. Maybe if less patents for profit and more curing was in the equation...I would not be as cynical as I have apparently become over the past 15 years or so. Stay healthy my friend.....
